Transfer Academic FAQ's

You will be notified via email by the Registrar’s Office on which courses transfer to Redlands and how they apply to our Liberal Arts Inquiry (LAI) requirements (general education).  Courses that may be applied to the major will be evaluated by the department chair when you declare your major.

You can also review our Transfer Course Equivalency Portal. In the portal you can enter your state and institution and see what courses have previously been transferred.  Please note that this is not an exhaustive list.  If a particular course is not listed, it does not mean that the course won’t transfer, it just means that it hasn’t been officially evaluated in the recent past.  You will have an opportunity to review these courses with your faculty advisor.

As a part of the academic onboarding process, all incoming transfer students will meet with a faculty advisor for their onboarding and course registration for their first semester at Redlands. Transfer students that have satisfied the necessary prerequisites to declare their major will be automatically reassigned to a faculty advisor within the respective department.

First-year transfer students who have only completed one semester of college classes and are transferring in 12 or fewer credits are required to take a First-Year Seminar. The faculty member teaching your FYS will serve as your academic advisor.

You may need to complete online assessments in the following areas if you are not already bringing in credit from a previous institution:
•    World Languages
•    Math

Please refer to your University of Redlands Transfer Credit Evaluation.

Redlands uses the ALEKS math placement test to evaluate students’ preparedness for specific math courses. All students accepted to Redlands can take this test and use its learning modules to prepare for calculus placement. For questions about math placement, math transfer credit, and AP test scores, email math_placement@redlands.edu or calculus_placement@redlands.edu.
